What happens when you cross interior design with art? The answer is Snijder & CO! Marcelo Gimenes and Jaap Snijder have been enchanting interiors with their designs since 2010 using artisanal and contemporary techniques. What makes them enthusiastic about their work is pulling out all the stops to create something that hasn’t been done before. For their collection this spring their creativity doesn’t disappoint, as they gravitated toward ants. Les Fourmis is named after a popular science fiction book by Bernard Weber, that pits the ant society against human society, because like us, ants live in a complex, structured world. Their designs feature ants steadily crawling along the side of a cup or marching up a panel of wallpaper. Although Marcelo and Jaap are self-described “control freaks” the fun is following the creativity (or ant) trail and seeing where it leads.
